Concise coverage of Ext JS 5

If you are new to Ext JS, this book is a great starting point for learning Ext JS 5.x.
Each chapter covers a specific topic or concept. It's best to read the first few chapters sequentially. Chapters 1 & 2 provide a good overview Ext JS and the framework. Other chapters walk you through what you need to know to build a fairly complete Ext JS application. The book comes with a sample application, with downloadable source from publisher, containing complete source code. Parts of the application are presented in the text in code fragments. The last chapter covers both unit testing and automated integration testing, which, in my opinion, is a very important topic.
If you are an experienced Ext JS developer, the book will not be as useful. But if you are new to it, this is a great way to get started with Ext JS 5. Keep in mind that you have to consider each topic discussed as a starting point to explore Ext JS further, since the book is not intended to provide comprehensive coverage of all of Ext JS features.
The book is mainly targeted towards those that are new to Ext JS but have a good software development foundation. If you have experience with object oriented programming languages and basic JavaScript, it will greatly assist you in picking up the concepts presented fairly quickly.

Currently the best ExtJS 5 book

The best ExtJS 5 book currently around. I brought this book after meeting one of the co-authors (Andrew Duncan) at SenchaCon on the day it was released. He impressed me so much that I decided to buy it. It hasn't disappointed. It does exactly what the title claims. It really does provide essential information in a different way to most technical books by taking the reader through the thought process of how and why to use this powerful and complex framework. It does this with an easy one-on-one style. Well structured and certainly not just a rehash of the standard ExtJS documentation that you often find with technical books.
I would absolutely recommend that you buy this book.
