Segovia's support for the fascist Franco resulted in his banishment from the lucrative American concert scene, while the travel dangers of World War II further isolated him from the rest of the world. During this time, Segovia greatly enriched the guitar repertoire through numerous arrangements and collaborations with major composers via correspondence. It was also an era of happy family life with Paquita. The couple collaborated on two of the most important contemporary guitar concertos and traveled throughout Latin America to perform. Then tragedy struck as the guitarist became entangled with a beautiful Brazilian singer in an affair that ruined his marriage and brought tragic consequences to his family life. In writing his autobiography, Segovia could never face this period. With the help of tenacious research and Paquita's two surviving daughters, Alfredo Escande diligently lifts the veil of secrecy and reveals a magical age of music history framed around the couple's decade together.

A fascinating biography

This is a lovely translation by Charles and Marisa Postlewate of Alfredo Escande's fascinating account of the years Andres Segovia lived in Montevideo with his second wife, the pianist Paquita Madriguera. Escande's limpid and clear prose has been rendered into English with grace and elegance. The challenge for the biographer is to transform the raw materials of letters and reminiscence into a full-blooded portrait of remarkable human beings who lived and loved with passion. In this, Escande and his translators have succeeded brilliantly.

New visibility into the lives of two musical geniuses

This book is excellent, and required reading for every fan of classical guitar. Segovia, himself, could not bring himself to write about his failed marriage to Paquita. Other writers have not had the inclination or the information necessary to write this book. Kudos to Charles Postlewate and his wife for translating this important work into English.

I am a dedicated amateur classical and flamenco guitarist with 57 years experience.

The architect Josep Llu�s Sert designed the Foundation's building with clean, airy white shapes of curves and corners and multiple skylights, creating a decidedly Mediterranean-flavored complex arranged around a central patio, with expansive roof terraces above. (Two subsequent expansions to the building were designed by Jaume Freixa, a pupil and longtime colleague of Sert's.) After the first major retrospective of Mir�'s work occurred in Barcelona in 1968, the artist decided to set up a building to make his work and the work of other contemporary artists permanently accessible to the public. To design the foundation's home, he tapped his old friend Sert, a pioneer in the introduction of modern architecture in Catalonia, who had first met Mir� in 1932 and worked with him on the Spanish (Republican) Pavilion at the Paris World Fair in 1937. This volume, one of a series of monographs on new museum architecture, provides a careful look at the design of one of Europe's premier art institutions, and includes an interview with the architects responsible for the recent expansions.

Darrin Perez (1988-) was born in Alexandria, Virginia and currently resides in Puerto Rico. His debut fantasy novel, Whispers of Dawn, was written as a self-imposed challenge in the spirit of NaNoWriMo (National November Writing Month). He has also written many video game related articles over at Hubpages and published an ebook concerning RPG Maker VX Ace (a video game development engine) as well. Another great reference by perez!

Another excellent book by Perez! Combined with his first book i learned plenty of tips to create full fledged rpg's faster. What used to take months now l can get a core game done in a week.

For reference i also use rpg maker for teens (which covers vx) and my mechanics/numbers use the d20 system (because why reinvent the wheel?)
